NDIS software for Western Australia providers

WA providers deliver across some of the most remote country in Australia. On top of national NDIS rules, that means WA's own worker screening process, the Department of Communities' restrictive practice authorisation policy, WA public holidays, and remote and very remote price limits in more places than most states.

What's different about running NDIS supports in Western Australia

Worker screening: the Department of Communities NDIS Worker Screening Unit

WA workers lodge their NDIS Worker Screening Check online and confirm their identity at a Department of Transport centre; the check is assessed by the Department of Communities' screening unit.

The clearance is national and lasts five years. Registered providers must confirm it in the NDIS Worker Screening Database before a worker starts a risk-assessed role, and keep records of it.

Pricing: national limits, remote loadings

There are no state-specific NDIS prices. National price limits apply in metropolitan and regional areas (Modified Monash Model MM 1–5). Supports delivered in MM 6 (remote) or MM 7 (very remote) areas use the higher remote and very remote limits. Use where the support is delivered, not the participant's home address.

The 2026–27 pricing schedule's isolated towns list also reclassifies places in Western Australia: as remote — Greater Geraldton, Irwin, Kalgoorlie, Kambalda, Merredin, Mingenew. Look up an address's category in the Health Workforce Locator.

Public holidays and SCHADS penalties

Work on a public holiday attracts SCHADS Award public holiday rates, and many NDIS supports have a public holiday price limit. Which days count depends on the holidays declared in Western Australia:

  • Labour Day is the first Monday in March, and Western Australia Day is the first Monday in June.
  • WA marks the King's Birthday later than other states, usually in late September, and some regional areas observe it on a different day.

Dates change each year — check the official list before you roster.

Restrictive practices authorisation

The NDIS Commission regulates behaviour support, but each state and territory decides how regulated restrictive practices are authorised. WA authorises restrictive practices in NDIS services under the Department of Communities' Authorisation of Restrictive Practices in Funded Disability Services Policy and its procedure guidelines, which use authorisation panels. The state has said it is working towards legislation.

Questions

Where do workers in Western Australia apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check?
Through Department of Communities NDIS Worker Screening Unit, the worker screening unit for Western Australia. The clearance is national, so a worker only applies in one state or territory and can then work for registered providers anywhere in Australia. Clearances last five years.
Are NDIS prices different in Western Australia?
NDIS price limits are national — there are no separate state prices. The same limits apply in every capital city and regional centre classified MM 1–5 under the Modified Monash Model. Supports delivered in MM 6 (remote) and MM 7 (very remote) areas, and in towns on the pricing schedule's isolated towns list, have higher remote and very remote limits.
Do Western Australia public holidays change SCHADS pay and NDIS prices?
Yes. Under the SCHADS Award, work on a public holiday attracts public holiday penalty rates, and the NDIS pricing schedule has public holiday price limits for many supports. Which days count depends on the public holidays declared in Western Australia, so rosters and pay rules need the local calendar.
Does Suppora work for providers in Western Australia?
Yes. Suppora is built for NDIS providers anywhere in Australia. NDIS pricing, the NDIS Practice Standards and the SCHADS Award are national, and public holidays can be set per state — or per site, for local show days — so penalty rates apply on the right days in Western Australia.
