How the NDIS price guide works in 2026–27

The NDIS price guide is now the NDIS pricing schedule. This guide explains what it is, how to read a support item number, how remote loadings and the new claim-type items work, and what changed from 2025–26. All figures are calculated from the schedule data used by the search above.

What the NDIS price guide is in 2026–27

Providers have long called the NDIA's Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL) “the price guide”. From 24 September 2026 the maximum prices come from a different instrument. The NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Act 2026 lets the Minister for the NDIS make a pricing determination by legislative instrument. The NDIA's role is to advise the Minister on pricing. The first determination was registered on 23 September 2026. It incorporates the NDIS pricing schedule 2026-27 under section 45C of the NDIS Act.

What has not changed is who the limits apply to and how they work:

  • The maximums apply to NDIA-managed and plan-managed supports.
  • The NDIA can't pay a claim above the limit and providers can't charge more than it.
  • Every maximum already includes any GST.
  • Limits apply per unit of measure, which is usually an hour but can be each, day, week or month.

How the pricing schedule is organised

The schedule has four parts: Part 1 sets out how the maximum amounts work, Part 2 has the price tables in seven appendices, Part 3 lists the isolated towns, and Part 4 has the definitions, including time of day and day of week. Specialist disability accommodation is priced in a separate SDA schedule.

Part 2 appendices: item counts (2026–27)
AppendixService itemsClaim-type itemsMedian change vs 2025–26
1. Disability Support Workers1180+4.8% (98 items)
2. Accommodation and Capital Costs200+4.8% (11 items)
3. Nursing and other labour supports660+3.6% (66 items)
4. Therapy and Professional Supports432150.0% (42 items)
5. Early Childhood Supports241200.0% (23 items)
6. Support Coordination500.0% (5 items)
7. Plan Management100.0% (1 items)

Part 1 also sets four rules that apply across the tables. Limits can differ by complexity and intensity, by geographic location, by day and time, and for group supports, where you divide the limit by the number of people in the group. When a support by a single worker crosses two time bands, the higher limit applies to the whole support.

How to read an NDIS support item number

Every support item number has five parts separated by underscores, plus a suffix for claim-type items. Once you can read it, you can tell the budget, registration group and purpose of a line on an invoice at a glance.

Disability Support Worker Levels 1 to 4

Appendix 1 groups support worker items into four levels, each costed from a classification in Schedule B of the SCHADS Award. The level reflects the skill and experience the support needs, not the worker's own pay grade. To check what you pay staff against what you can claim, use the SCHADS pay calculator and the SCHADS pay rates table.

Level 1 covers standard self-care, SIL, community and group activities and supports in employment. Level 2 covers the high intensity and intensive and complex behaviour versions of those supports. Level 3 covers capacity-building work such as skills development, life transition planning and employment assistance. Use the SIL roster of care tool to price a SIL home with both.

Remote and very remote prices (Modified Monash Model)

The 2026–27 schedule has no state or territory columns. Location pricing follows the Modified Monash Model (MMM), the Australian Government's seven-level classification from MM 1 (major cities) to MM 7 (very remote communities):

  • MM 1–5: national limit.
  • MM 6, or a town reclassified as remote in Part 3: remote limit.
  • MM 7, or a town reclassified as very remote in Part 3: very remote limit.

What counts is the physical location where the support is delivered, regardless of the participant's usual address. If an item has no remote or very remote amount, it isn't eligible for a loading.

Assistance With Self-Care Activities - Standard - Weekday Daytime by zone

Item 01_011_0107_1_1, NDIS pricing schedule 2026-27. Per hour, GST-inclusive.

In this schedule, 611 of 612 items have a remote limit exactly 40% above the national limit, and 611 have a very remote limit 50% above it. Items that differ include Plan Management - Monthly Fee. Always read the remote figure from the item rather than applying a percentage yourself.

Claim-type items: _CA, _NF, _PT, _RR and _TH

In the PAPL, cancellations, non-face-to-face work, provider travel, NDIA-requested reports and telehealth were rules attached to a service item. In 2026–27 they have their own item numbers, made from the parent item number plus a suffix. There are 335 of them, all in Therapy and Professional Supports and Early Childhood Supports.

SuffixClaim typeItemsLimit compared with the direct-service item
_CACancellation67Same as the parent item
_NFNon-face-to-face67Same as the parent item
_PTProvider travel6750% of the parent item
_RRNDIA requested reports67Same as the parent item
_THTelehealth67Same as the parent item

For example, 15_610_0128_1_3_PT (Therapy - Art Therapist - Provider Travel) has a national limit of $78.08, against $156.16 for the direct service 15_610_0128_1_3. Provider travel is 50% of the direct-service limit across the schedule.

Claim the suffixed item for that part of the work instead of the parent item. A short-notice cancellation goes on the _CA item, not the direct-service item. The cancellation calculator checks whether a cancellation is claimable, and the invoice generator puts each line on the right item.

What changed from 2025–26 to 2026–27, in numbers

Of the 277 service items, 246 can be compared with a 2025–26 limit: 182 went up, 17 went down and 47 stayed the same. The other 31 are new or renumbered, such as the 0138 SIL items. The median change was +3.6%. Most items moved in a few uniform steps rather than individually:

Number of service items by change in limit, 2025–26 → 2026–27

Comparable service items only (claim-type items excluded). 2025–26 comparisons use the previous national (NSW) limit.

Support worker items rose with the DSW cost model, and therapy items moved in both directions. Some professions, such as psychology and specialist behaviour support, rose, while others, including art and music therapy and “other professional” items, fell. If you deliver therapy, check every item you claim and update your service agreements: an agreed price above the new limit can't be claimed.

Claiming the right item and price

How to find and claim the right NDIS support item
  1. 1
Identify the support and who delivers it
Decide what the support is (for example self-care, community participation, therapy) and the worker level or profession delivering it, then find that section in the schedule.
  2. 2
Pick the time band and intensity
Choose the item for the day and time the support is delivered, and standard or high intensity. If one worker's support crosses two bands, the higher limit applies to the whole support.
  3. 3
Use the claim-type item if it isn't direct service
For therapy and early childhood items, claim cancellations, non-face-to-face work, provider travel, NDIA-requested reports and telehealth against the matching suffixed item (_CA, _NF, _PT, _RR, _TH).
  4. 4
    Apply the location
Check the Modified Monash Model category of where the support is delivered and the isolated towns list, then use the national, remote or very remote limit.
  5. 5
Check the price against the service agreement
Claim no more than the limit and no more than the price agreed in the participant's service agreement. Limits include GST.
  6. 6
    Claim in the right unit
Claim in the item's unit of measure (hour, each, day, week or month). For group supports, divide the limit by the number of participants in the group.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is the NDIS price guide for 2026–27?+

The NDIS pricing schedule 2026–27, effective 24 September 2026, is the Minister's pricing determination that replaced the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. It lists 612 support items with national, remote and very remote maximum prices for NDIA-managed and plan-managed participants.

How much is an hour of standard self-care support in 2026–27?+

Assistance With Self-Care Activities - Standard - Weekday Daytime (01_011_0107_1_1) has a national price limit of $73.58 an hour, up from $70.23 in 2025–26. Evening, night, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday items have higher limits.

Why are there no state prices any more?+

The schedule sets one national maximum for Modified Monash Model 1–5 locations, plus remote (MM 6) and very remote (MM 7) maximums. Some isolated towns are reclassified as remote or very remote for pricing. The location is where the support is delivered, not where the participant lives.

What are the items ending in _CA, _NF, _PT, _RR and _TH?+

Claim types that used to be rules on the parent item are now separate item numbers: _CA cancellation, _NF non-face-to-face, _PT provider travel, _RR NDIA-requested reports and _TH telehealth. There are 335 of them. Provider travel items generally carry a lower limit than the direct service item — check the exact item before claiming.

Which prices went down?+

17 base items have a lower limit than in 2025–26. 182 went up and 47 are unchanged.

Do the price limits apply to self-managed participants?+

No. The maximum prices apply to NDIA-managed and plan-managed participants. Self-managed participants can agree a price with their provider.

Is the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL) still used?+

Not for maximum prices. From 24 September 2026 the maximum prices are set by the Minister's pricing determination, through the NDIS pricing schedule 2026–27. The NDIA has said it will publish updated pricing and claiming guidance documents. Until then, the 2025–26 PAPL is still on its pricing page for reference, but the limits in the 2026–27 schedule are the ones that apply.

Are NDIS price limits GST-inclusive?+

Yes. The pricing schedule says every maximum amount already includes any GST. Whether you charge GST on a particular support is a tax question for your accountant or the ATO, but you can't claim more than the maximum price either way.

How do I check whether a location is remote or very remote?+

Look up the address's Modified Monash Model category, for example in the Health Workforce Locator. MM 1–5 is national pricing, MM 6 is remote and MM 7 is very remote. Then check Part 3 of the schedule, the isolated towns list, which reclassifies some towns as remote or very remote. Use the place where the support is delivered, not the participant's home address.

What are Disability Support Worker Levels 1 to 4?+

The 2026–27 schedule groups support worker items into four levels, each costed from a SCHADS Award classification: Level 1 from a level 2.3 worker, Level 2 from the average of levels 2.4 and 3.1 (high intensity and complex behaviour supports), Level 3 from a level 3.2 worker, and Level 4 from a level 4.4 worker (psychosocial recovery coaching and assistive technology mentoring).

How are group supports priced in 2026–27?+

For a support delivered to a group at the same time, you work out what to claim from each participant by dividing the maximum amount for the item by the number of people in the group.

Can I charge less than the NDIS price limit?+

Yes. The schedule sets maximum prices. You can agree any price up to the limit with the participant and record it in the service agreement. The NDIA can't pay a claim above the limit, and providers can't charge more than it for NDIA-managed or plan-managed supports.

What if an item has no remote or very remote price?+

The schedule says that where remote and very remote amounts aren't listed for a support, that support isn't eligible for a remote or very remote loading. The national amount applies wherever it is delivered.

Where are the SDA prices?+

Specialist disability accommodation has its own NDIS pricing schedule for SDA 2026–27, also effective 24 September 2026, published next to the main schedule on the NDIA's pricing arrangements page.
