| 01_832_0138_1_1 | $311.79 | $436.51 | $467.69 | $81.23 | $230.56 |
Per sleepover. The SCHADS cost is the $62.87 sleepover allowance plus super, workers comp, payroll tax and overheads. It excludes the shifts either side of the sleepover and any time the worker is woken, which is paid as overtime — so the difference is not margin on the whole night.
This is guidance, not legal, payroll or financial advice. Price limits are from the NDIS pricing schedule 2026-27 (effective 24 September 2026); check the NDIS Pricing Arrangements before you claim. Labour costs use SCHADS minimum rates from the Fair Work Ombudsman MA000100 pay guide (published 18 September 2026) and on-cost assumptions you should replace with your own. SIL pricing 2026–27 and what it leaves you
Supported Independent Living is priced per hour of support, by time band, with a separate fee per sleepover. The price limit is a ceiling: wages, on-costs, overheads and any surplus all have to fit under it. This guide shows where the 2026–27 limits sit against award labour costs, and the assumptions behind the comparison.
How SIL is priced in 2026–27
SIL items come in two intensities. Standardsupport sits in the schedule's Disability Support Workers Level 1 section, and High Intensity in the Level 2 section, for participants whose support needs require a more skilled or experienced worker. Each has an hourly item for six time bands, plus a single night-time sleepover item. Price limits are set for national, remote and very remote locations.
The schedule has no separate active overnight SIL item. Awake support overnight is claimed at the weekday night rate (or the weekend or public holiday rate), and asleep support at the sleepover rate. To turn a week of shifts into a per-resident quote, use the SIL roster of care tool.
Time bands
The NDIS time bands are defined by when the support is delivered:
| Band | Definition |
|---|---|
| Weekday daytime | Starts at or after 6am and ends at or before 8pm on a single weekday. |
| Weekday evening | Starts at or after 8pm and finishes at or before midnight on a single weekday. |
| Weekday night | Starts at or before midnight and finishes after midnight into the next weekday, or starts before 6am and finishes that weekday. |
| Saturday / Sunday | Starts at or after midnight the night before and ends at or before midnight that day. |
| Public holiday | Starts at or after midnight the night before the public holiday and ends at or before midnight on it. |
| Night-time sleepover | Starts before and finishes after midnight, runs 8+ continuous hours and the worker can sleep. Active support beyond 2 hours can be claimed from the third hour at Saturday rates on weekdays. |
SCHADS shift loadings work differently. An afternoon shift is one that finishes after 8pm, and its 12.5% loading applies to the whole shift — including the daytime hours you claim at the weekday daytime rate. A 2pm to 10pm shift costs 112.5% for 8 hours but earns 6 hours at the daytime limit and 2 at the evening limit. The table compares each band at the loading most hours in that band attract, so real rosters can land a little either side.
Margins by time band
With the default assumptions — part-time Level 2.3 for standard support, Level 3.1 for high intensity, 4 weeks' leave, 12% super, 3% workers comp, no payroll tax and 12% overheads — the national margins per worker-hour are:
| Band | Standard limit | L2.3 cost | Margin | High Int. limit | L3.1 cost | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weekday daytime | $73.58 | $59.57 | $14.01 (19%) | $79.60 | $62.65 | $16.95 (21.3%) |
| Weekday evening | $81.07 | $65.79 | $15.28 (18.8%) | $87.70 | $69.19 | $18.51 (21.1%) |
| Weekday night | $82.57 | $67.04 | $15.53 (18.8%) | $89.32 | $70.49 | $18.83 (21.1%) |
| Saturday | $103.54 | $84.45 | $19.09 (18.4%) | $112.01 | $88.82 | $23.19 (20.7%) |
| Sunday | $133.50 | $109.31 | $24.19 (18.1%) | $144.42 | $114.97 | $29.45 (20.4%) |
| Public holiday | $163.46 | $134.19 | $29.27 (17.9%) | $176.84 | $141.13 | $35.71 (20.2%) |
Weekend and public holiday limits rise roughly in step with award penalty rates, so the percentage margin stays in a similar range across bands. Remote and very remote limits are higher while the award rate is the same, but remote delivery usually brings its own extra costs.
Assumptions behind the comparison
- Classifications. Earlier NDIS price guides linked standard supports to workers at SCHADS Level 2.3 or below and high intensity supports to Level 2.4 or 3.1. We use Level 2.3 and Level 3.1 as benchmarks — pick the levels you actually pay.
- Award minimums. SACS rates from the Fair Work pay guide, including the equal remuneration order. Above-award pay or an enterprise agreement will cost more.
- Penalties. Evening is costed as a SCHADS afternoon shift (112.5%) and night as a night shift (115%); casuals add 25 points.
- Leave. Permanent staff: 4 weeks' annual leave with 17.5% loading, 10 personal leave days and 10 public holidays, spread over the remaining productive weeks and costed at the base rate.
- On-costs. 12% super on wages and leave; 3% workers comp (a placeholder — use your premium rate); 0% payroll tax (enter your rate if you're over your state's threshold); 12% overheads as a planning figure.
- Not included. Overtime, broken shifts, allowances other than sleepover, unbillable time (handover, training, team meetings), vacancies and cancellations.
Sleepovers
The 2026–27 night-time sleepover limit is $311.79 per sleepover nationally. Under SCHADS the worker gets a flat $62.87 sleepover allowance; with the default on-costs that's about $81.23. The gap isn't pure margin: the award requires work of at least 4 hours immediately before or after the sleepover, and any time the worker is woken to work is paid as overtime with a one-hour minimum. Under the pricing arrangements, if active support during a sleepover runs past 2 hours, it can be claimed from the third hour — on weekdays at the Saturday rate.

Frequently asked
What are the SIL price limits for 2026–27?+
Nationally, Standard SIL support on a weekday daytime is $73.58 an hour and High Intensity is $79.60, rising for evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. A night-time sleepover is $311.79 per night. Remote and very remote limits are higher. The full table is above.
What's the difference between Standard and High Intensity SIL?+
High Intensity SIL items are for participants whose disability support needs require a more skilled or experienced worker. They sit in the schedule's Disability Support Worker Level 2 section and have higher price limits than Standard items (Level 1).
What margin does a SIL provider make per hour?+
It depends on your labour costs. With a part-time SCHADS Level 2.3 worker and the default on-cost assumptions on this page, a weekday daytime Standard hour costs about $59.57 against a $73.58 limit — a margin of $14.01 (19%) per worker-hour before unbillable time, vacancies and other risks.
Does the price limit change in remote areas?+
Yes. The schedule sets separate remote and very remote limits, based on the Modified Monash Model classification of where the support is delivered. The award wage is the same, so the margin column changes when you switch location.
Is there a separate active overnight SIL item in 2026–27?+
No. The 2026–27 schedule has no separate active overnight SIL item. Active support overnight is claimed at the hourly rate for the time band it falls in — weekday night on weeknights, or the Saturday, Sunday or public holiday item. Inactive overnight support where the worker can sleep is claimed as a night-time sleepover.
Why are there two item numbers for each SIL support?+
The 2026–27 schedule lists SIL items under registration group 0138 (Supported independent living) and also keeps the earlier 0115 item numbers, at the same price limits. This page shows the 0138 items. Check which numbers apply to your plans and service bookings.
Are SIL price limits per participant or per worker?+
Hourly SIL price limits are for an hour of a worker's support. Where support is shared, each participant is claimed their share of the worker's time, so a worker supporting three residents for an hour is usually claimed as a third of an hour for each. The margins on this page are per worker-hour.

Suppora keeps each house's residents, rosters, shared and 1:1 support and sleepovers together, prices them at current NDIS limits and turns delivered support into claims.
